The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department hosted a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic at the Pinnacle Bank Arena on Thursday, February 18, 2020.

Nearly 2,700 Lancaster County residents aged 71 and over received an initial dose of the coronavirus vaccine at the Pinnacle Bank Arena on Wednesday, according to the Lincoln-Lancaster County Department of Health.

The clinic for appointments only was also open to the spouses of residents of this priority age group.

So far, 73,600 doses of coronavirus vaccine have been administered, according to the Ministry of Health.

Three more COVID-19 vaccination clinics are planned for Lincoln this week

The department expects to receive 5,850 doses of coronavirus vaccine this week, the largest vaccine shipment to date.

Residents aged 80 and over who received their first doses earlier this month will receive their second admissions in the clinics on Thursday and Friday.

Another Lancaster County resident has died from the virus, according to the health department.

The deceased was a man in his seventies who had been in a long-term care facility, the department said in a press release.

His death marks the 220th in Lancaster County since the pandemic began.

Health Department officials on Wednesday confirmed 58 more cases of COVID-19 in the county, bringing the total to 27,990.

The Lincoln hospitals were caring for 40 coronavirus patients on Wednesday, including 28 from Lancaster County.
