Diwali is all about light, good food, and most importantly, sweets! While many of us are already nutritionally conscious, let’s not compromise on our sweet cravings on this Diwali. There are several alternatives for Diwali sweets that are healthy too! Here are 3 such health ladoos recipes from the kitchen of Natasha Sandeep, founder of Goodness in a Bite.

Ragi and various nuts

Give your Ladoos a healthy touch this year with the Ragi and Assorted Nuts Ladoo

Makes: 6-8 Laddu

ingredients

Yeast: 1 cup

Ghee: 4 tbsp

Jaggery: 1/2 cup

Assorted nuts: A handful (almonds, cashews, pistachio, walnuts)

method

  • Roast the nuts dry, chop them finely and set aside
  • Take a non-stick pan, add the ghee and slowly fried ragi until it turns a darker shade (about 10 minutes).
  • Take jaggery in the same kadhai, add 3 tablespoons of water and cook until jaggery melts completely. Now add the roasted ragi powder and the nuts and mix. Let cool a little and roll

Oats & Dark Chocolate Ladoo

Make it special this year with healthy oats and dark chocolate ladoos

Power: 6-8

ingredients

Oats: 1/4 cup

Almonds and hazelnuts: 1/4 cup

Soft dates: 1/2 cup

Vanilla essence: 1/4 tsp

Peanut butter: 2 tbsp

Dark chocolate chips: 1/2 cup

method

  • Roast oat flakes, nuts and coconut separately
  • Put all the ingredients in a food processor and pulse a few times until the ingredients combine to form a sticky batter
  • Roll into balls and set aside
  • Melt dark chocolate in the microwave, dip these balls in and cover well with chocolate and refrigerate for 4 hours.

Moong Dal Ladoo

This festive season will be incomplete without the Moong Dal Ladoo

Power: 6-8

Moong Dal: 1 cup

Jaggery: 1/2 cup

Ghee: 4 tbsp

Elaichi: 1/2 tsp

method

  • Roast Moong Dal on slow gas for 5 minutes. pulverize, sieve and set aside
  • Take a pan, add ghee and slowly toast this powder for 12-15 minutes. Turn off the gas and cool the mixture
  • Add grated jaggery and elaichi to this mixture and pulse this in a blender until the batter comes together
  • Add toasted almonds to the batter and hold ladoos
