ELMIRA, NY (WETM-TV) – When it comes to keeping a New Year’s resolution, a Scranton University research found that only 19% of people pull through. Since diet is one of the most popular resolutions, it seems that many people give up their diet at the beginning of the new year. 18 News spoke to a locally registered nutritionist and founder of Nexus Nutrition, Alexander LeRitz-Salisbury, who shared why this is so.

“The word diet has such a negative connotation,” said LeRitz-Salisbury. “You get to this way of thinking – I’m going to narrow that down and it will help me. However, the first thing your brain says is, I wish I could have this, ”he continued.
LeRitz-Salisbury said the restriction doesn’t work long-term. He says you should set yourself small, realistic, and sustainable goals. “Write them down and keep them where you can see them every day,” said LeRitz-Salisbury.
