The limited collection is inspired by the Mediterranean landscapes that two of Diptyque’s founders, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet, frequented in the 1960s. The Summer 2021 line uses olfactory ingredients from Italy, Provence and the Greek islands to recreate the scents of the Mediterranean that the founders of Diptyque call the “landscape of the soul”.
The Ilio fragrance, the line’s hero product, takes its name from the Greek word for sun. The fruity floral scent begins with prickly pear top notes, mixed with bergamot, jasmine and iris.

Landscape of the Soul: The Mediterranean was a popular vacation destination for two of Diptyque’s founders, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet, and for illustrator Luke Edward Hall
The Citronelle fragrance, which is available in body spray and candle formats, is based on the natural mosquito-repellent properties of Citronelle.
In addition to Citronelle, the body spray combines essential oils from lemongrass, geranium and lemon eucalyptus for improved mosquito repellent effectiveness. The introduction of the body spray marks a first for Diptyque and combines the spicy aroma of citronelle with soft floral notes and a white musk base.
The refreshed scent of Vinaigre de Toilette offers a contemporary take on one of the brand’s first products. The updated fragrance combines lavender, rosemary, and thyme and includes a lavender fig that goes into each bottle.

Luke Edward Hill brings Mediterranean scenes to life with his playful illustrations
The Mediterranean is also a popular vacation destination for English illustrator Luke Edward Hall, who was commissioned by Diptyque to create special drawings that visualize the range.
Hall’s illustrations appear on the bottles, packaging, and the line’s eye-catching visual campaign.
Hall is known for his bold use of color and the neoclassical style of Greece that compliments the brand’s natural inspirations.
His illustrations recreate the beauty and light of the Mediterranean in a modern and joyful way, while at the same time evoking a vacation in the sun.
London-based Hall has worked with numerous fashion beauty and luxury houses including Burberry, Lanvin, Christie’s, the Royal Academy of Arts, Richard Ginori, Svenskt Tenn and Habitat.
His work has been exhibited in London, Stockholm, Athens and the USA. In 2019 he published his first book ‘Great Disco: The Art & Design of Luke Edward Hall’ with teNeues.
The launch marks the third chapter in a series of special releases, events and campaigns for Diptyque’s 60th anniversary. This includes the launch of the Orphéon fragrance in March.
