PEORIA (HOI) – Of course, COVID has shut down the entire fitness industry.

“I decided I didn’t want to be the way things were again,” said Paula Van Kuren, owner of Fitness by Paula. “I wanted to bring fun and life to the people who are important to me.”

Certified personal trainer Van Kuren was stuck. Until she started playing around with aerobics at home.

“I personally played on my backyard rig in my backyard. I have decided to bring this joy and this game to my friends and the people who are important to me, ”she said.

This is how Fitness by Paula was born. With silk, tires and burgess, everything is in the air.

“Aerial Fitness is an intense upper body, core and real full body workout,” said Van Kuren.

“It’s a workout that isn’t a standard workout,” said Kristin Whitacker, a Fitness by Paula customer. “It’s like being a child again.”

At Fitness by Paula, people of all ages are invited to play on machines like this as if they were kids again. And tricks that look difficult at first glance are actually much easier to master.

“I started with absolutely zero skill,” said Theresa Black, a Fitness by Paula customer.

Van Kuren is all about creating a positive space.

“If you feel like you don’t fit the bro fitness motif, you’re welcome here,” said Van Kuren. “I want you to find meaning, fulfillment and fun in air sports and fitness.”

“It’s nostalgia,” said Whitacker. “It brings back your childhood to be in a playground and just enjoy life.”
