Anthracite Fitness Factory offered free opening courses in all three disciplines.

Strzelecki found the former beverage warehouse big enough to reach her destination, and she and her good friend Erica Zangardi teamed up when Zangardi founded The Cycle Yard.

31-year-old Zangardi has been a fitness trainer for five years, including a certification in cycling.

“Before the pandemic, Jenna and I talked about doing business together,” Zangardi said. “We wanted to bring something to our area that has never been offered here before – a stand-alone boutique bike studio that offers a full-body experience with arms out on the bike.”

The Fahrradhof offers a strength component with 30 minutes on the bike and 30 minutes away from the bike.

The Cycle Yard has packages available for monthly memberships, one-time drop-in rates, and memberships that join forces with the other disciplines in the building.

Michaelene Mecadon recently opened the MFIT Studio, where she offers courses in Dance Fitness, HIIT Boot Camp Training, Strength Training, Barre, RIPPED, Rumble, Mobility / Flow, Zumba, Stark, Power Barre, Mobility, Full Body, Kids Kamp and more.

CrossFit can accommodate 18 people; The bicycle yard, 22; and MFIT, 15, under CDC and Pennsylvania health guidelines.

As an additional feature, according to Strzelecki, CrossFit Anthracite has partnered with The Salt Barre alongside the banquet facility The Banks.

Mattia Krappa, 23, opened Lucca Fresca, a take-away nutrition center with freshly squeezed juices for pre- and post-workout and exercise fuel. It serves completely natural foods and drinks with no added sugar.

“I felt there was a void in the community for healthier food options,” said Krappa. “Healthier options for healthy and really tasty food. People don’t eat too healthy because they think it doesn’t taste good, so I’m trying to change that with Lucca Fresca. “

This is Krappa’s second location with a Lucca Fresca in Lackawanna County.

Strzelecki said she was open to accepting more fitness components for Anthracite Fitness Factory and was ready to speak to anyone who has new fitness ideas to be part of the group.
