AOC Goes Veg For Lent! We have Bought the Most Superb Wholesome Plant-Primarily based Recipes for Her


On Wednesday, February 17, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced her decision to become a vegetarian during Christian Lent. She turned to her Twitter followers for help and asked them to join her, share her vegetarian recipes, and help others.

Ok everyone, I need some help!

A couple of weeks ago, I told @RepRaskin that I wanted to start a Lent vegetarian diet this year in memory of his son Tommy.

Jamie said, “Well, you’d have to do it like Tommy would, which means you bring people along!” ☺️

AOC’s decision to adopt a vegetarian diet commemorates Rep Jamie Raskin’s son, Tommy. A passionate vegan, Tommy Raskin convinced friends and family to become vegetarians, worked as a contributor to Mercy for Animals, and wrote about animal rights. The many stories friends and family have told about Tommy make it clear that he was an incredibly compassionate person.

Unfortunately, on December 31, 2020, Tommy lost his battle with depression. Tommy’s family founded the Tommy Raskin Memorial Fund for People and Animals with a $ 50,000 contribution in his honor.

Many have already responded to AOC’s tweet, providing recipes and advice. Some have also encouraged them to go vegan and extend their commitment beyond the forty days of Lent.
