Collaboration with the Tumaini Institute to launch ‘The On @ Pro’, a free global platform to educate people about diabetes
Ascensia Diabetes Care, a global leader in diabetes care, has launched an online continuous personal learning educational platform aimed at healthcare professionals working with people with diabetes. The On @ Pro tool that was originally piloted in September 2020, was developed in cooperation with the TUMAINI Institute in Germanythrough a collaboration with professor Peter Black, a globally recognized diabetes expert.
On @ Pro is currently available in 13 countries including the middle East ((Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon and the UAE), South Africa, Egypt, India, Malaysia, Singapore, China Hong Kong, the Phillipines and NepalIt is planned to add more markets in the course of 2021. Access via Android, Microsoft and iOS-enabled devices such as smartphones, tablets and PCs is via a personal access code, which is available from Ascensia in countries in which the tool is currently offered. Access is free to ensure access to as many healthcare professionals as possible.
The platform currently offers a total of 32 modules in English on various aspects of diabetes care and treatment. Each module contains a 3-4 minute introductory video, a series of learning slides and an assessment tool that can be used to obtain a certification for the user. In certain markets including South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon In the United Arab Emirates, the tool has been accredited and completing modules can lead to Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.

The modules are divided into basic, expansion and additional modules. Each module takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. The 18 basic modules cover topics related to diabetes prevention, diabetes-related complications, diabetes in daily life and diabetes management, including diet and activity, self-monitoring of blood sugar, oral anti-diabetic drugs and insulin dosing. The nine advanced modules cover certain types of diabetes subgroups or diabetes in certain scenarios – during pregnancy, in the elderly, or in adolescents and children. They also study the accuracy in certain situations, such as: B. low blood sugar levels, gestational diabetes as well as CGM and FGM users. Finally, the four additional modules include e-health for diabetes, diabetes in Ramadan and blood sugar awareness training.
