Thomas Tuchel gave a positive update on Christian Pulisic’s fitness ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League away game against Leicester City.

The 23-year-old returned with an ankle injury at the beginning of November after a long period of cancellation.

Pulisic was limited to four games for the Blues in all competitions that season and returned to the league before the November international break against Burnley.

He had minutes with the USMNT and returned to Chelsea this week to prepare for the Leicester game.

Tuchel declared the winger fit, which he now sees in the race for the start at King Power.

“Christian Pulisic is feeling good,” said the Chelsea coach in his pre-game press conference.

Pulisic faces Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech for a place in the Chelsea attack.

Tuchel expects a tough game but knows his team will be ready for the league game as they have another three points in their sights.

He added: “I think they are a team of individual quality, full of talent. It’s a top club, a top team and a top coach. I expect a tough one. I also expect Chelsea, our team Hunger and passion play along with the aim of winning – that’s the way of thinking that we want to reinstall after the international breaks in order to win again and restart our engine.

“It’s my first time there. I’ve played them twice, once at Wembley and once at Stamford Bridge. Everyone tells me this is a difficult place, but we’re ready for it.”
