Comings & Goings: Most cancers fighters get health assist

Local fitness expert Jennifer Miramontes recently left FIT house focus on their business Cancer Champion Fitness.

Miramontes is a tough personal trainer who knows how to help people improve their wellbeing through exercise, diet, and mindfulness. She especially loves directing her positive energy towards helping cancer patients, knowing that exercise and diet can have a huge impact on a person’s energy, stamina, and attitude.

In 2019, she founded Cancer Champion Fitness, focusing on the program she developed for clients and their two parents. One of these clients was her friend Ann Murray Paige, who died of breast cancer in 2014 at the age of 48 but who credited Miramontes with “five extra years.”

On the company’s website, Miramontes paid tribute to Paige: “It was because of you that I found the courage to create the program that you inspired.”

Miramontes has a cancer-focused medical exercise certification and has recently become one of 500 worldwide to receive certification as a cancer exercise specialist.

The online program offers whole-food nutrition plans and workouts for all levels for people who are undergoing or have recently completed cancer treatment. Visit https://cancerchampionfitness.com/. There are four trainers and two nutritionists.

The program offers 5-, 10-, 20-, and 30-minute workouts and hundreds of specially designed recipes, it says on their website. Customers also receive weekly Zoom calls to Miramontes and nutritionist Damian Bramer.

Miramontes and Lisa Herrington founded the fitness center FIT House in 2010. Along the way, Caryn DeMoura and Blanche McNaughton became partners. It is also located at 302 G St. on property owned by McNaughton Newspapers, publisher of The Davis Company.

The new Vietnamese restaurant Pho yummy not open on April 12th as originally planned. It has now set a soft opening for Monday. It replaces Taste of thai At the beginning, the opening times are daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

This property is also owned by McNaughton Newspapers.

There is a new tenant for the informant Davis Chamber of Commerce Site at 604 Third St. Realtor Jeremy Higgins is the renter through broker eXp Realty. He hopes to open doors to the 1,352 square meter room by the end of May.

Higgins and his team used to be part of GoodHome Group RE / MAX gold at 334 Madison Place. “Shortly after the pandemic broke out, I left RE / MAX to join eXp Realty, which has a robust virtual platform that is well suited for remote work.”

The board closed its office in March and ended its lease in December. Executive Director Cory Koehler said at the time the organization was looking for something smaller and cheaper, noting that 60 percent of its revenue came from events that are on hold.

There wasn’t much going on with the former Watermelon music Location at 207 E St., Where Lifting Canes Chicken Fingers comes.

The company confirmed in a social media post that it is slated to open in Davis later this year. They said they should stay tuned by checking the “Coming Soon” section on their website which doesn’t list Davis yet.

Watermelon Music moved to Lake Boulevard, Suite 1 in 1970.

Davisville Express Lube, 2014 Lyndell Terrace, changed ownership and name this month. It’s snowing Oil changer. The Bay Area company with more than 55 stores in California and Hawaii.

Ron Lautzenheiser said he and his Davisville partners sold the business and property, including Subway. There are no changes to the sandwich shop.

Lautzenheiser und Partner bought Center City Automotive last year. Although the former Davisville manager and some of the staff have moved to Center City, the majority remain employed in Davisville.

Oil changers specialize in full-service oil changes. Davisville also offered repairs to mechanics, brakes, and tires.

The food truck for Chandos tacoslocated at 1111 Richards Blvd. parks, had inconsistent hours. Originally advertised as 11am to 8pm daily, readers have reported that it doesn’t.

Owner Chando Madrigal said Thursday that they are “still working on it”, referring to a consistent schedule. “It was a bit spotty due to previous engagements.” According to Facebook, the truck was there on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. Check social media for updates.

Chando’s has plans for a permanent Davis location later this year after upgrades are made to the former Redrum burger Website at 978 Olive Drive.
