CycleBar, an indoor cycling franchise that offers a variety of high-intensity, gentle exercise sessions, has opened a facility in Pearland.

The bicycle theater and studio opened on September 30th at 2701 Pearland Parkway, # 150. It offers bespoke programs that challenge riders to immersive workouts for all fitness levels led by trained instructors.

The workouts are tracked through driver-specific CycleStat performance metrics and use audio, video and lighting technology that includes a playlist and tracks performance and growth.

Drivers can measure performance or how many calories have been burned.

CycleBar has more than 200 studios worldwide. The Pearland studio, owned by Michael and Tracy Stelmach, is the first in the area.

The facility offers complementary shoes, towels, and water bottles, as well as lavender-enriched cooling wipes after training. The studio also has a retail store.

CycleBar offers five 45-minute class formats to choose from, said Shannon Wood, general manager of the Pearland site.

“The classes are all different in terms of the driving experience people are looking for,” she said

The driving options range from the classic drive, which consists of traditional challenges, to the more performance-oriented and motivation-oriented workouts. Each bike is connected to a television screen that records results and statistics based on power and watts, and these results are emailed to riders as a training summary.

The beginner needn’t be intimidated, said Wood.

“We have a community area where everyone changes from their normal shoes to their cycling shoes, and this is really a time when we introduce our riders,” said Wood. “When you come in, we’ll show you how to check in, how to clip in your bike. We’ll take care of any inconvenience and make everyone feel welcome. “

The bikes have weighted bars for added resistance, and while all programs are led by an instructor, each rider can customize their bike to suit their own fitness level.

“You have the motivation and direction from the instructor, but ultimately you are responsible for your equipment and your own strength,” said Wood. “We don’t want to shy away from one of the formats because it is all-inclusive and for all levels. People can choose their own teacher and format, so it’s very much what works for them. “

Courses and memberships cost between $ 69 and $ 159 a month, and all new drivers get a free first session. CycleBar also offers $ 23 drop-in rides that don’t require drivers to pay membership fees.

At the end of each month, the studio welcomes a local vendor to the studio to showcase this business.
