There are many types of rashes caused by several factors. When we enter the summer season, rashes become a common phenomenon. The most common causes, among many reasons, are allergies, cuts, ice cream, insect bites, excessive heat, infection, itching from summer heat and sun exposure, and sunburn.

One of the most effective ways to treat a rash is by using essential oils. Certain essential oils have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. They are obtained from the leaves, buds, bark and flowers of plants that retain the same healing properties as the plant. Sandalwood – It shares the same properties in essential oils as plants and wood, which is widely used for many religious reasons. Sandalwood is a key ingredient in those pesky itchy rashes.


Peppermint – Can be used on all types of rashes to reduce inflammation on the skin. It contains natural menthol, which has an analgesic effect on irritated skin.

Lemongrass and Thyme Oil – It is a powerful essential oil that works very well on insect bites. It has natural astringent properties that aid in healing as well.

Lavender Oil – It has been shown to be effective for many years at relieving pain, as well as relieving rashes and inflamed skin. It also helps reduce skin redness, often caused by irritation and suntan.

Eucalyptus Oil – It can be used for all types of rashes. It’s especially effective in providing moisture for irritated, itchy, and painful rashes.

Chamomile Oil – It contains azulene, which is known to moisturize itchy and irritated skin. It’s also good for reducing inflammation in all types of rashes.

Geranium Oil – It is most effective for heat rashes as it has alkaline properties that help balance the oil in the skin. It hydrates the skin and helps in healing inflamed skin problems faster.

Essential oils need to be part of your daily routine. For example, you can add them to your talcum powder or make a spray or ice cubes. Adding lavender oil to the water and freezing it in small cubes can be a great way to relieve any swelling or skin on hot days. Essential oils can be useful during nature walks or adventure vacations, for example – lemongrass, thyme, and lavender can be mixed with a moisturizer to use as a repellent. It needs to be an important part of your travel kit, especially oils like lavender and eucalyptus.
