Registration is now open for the Cheshire Diabetes Prevention Program, which has been shown to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by 58 percent, according to the Cheshire Medical Center.
In weekly online sessions beginning March 16, attendees will acquire the skills and support they need to make permanent and healthy lifestyle changes. The program is taught in small groups of eight to 15 people by a trained and certified lifestyle coach using a curriculum developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“The small group approach helps increase camaraderie, participation and accountability – all key factors in behavior change and long-term success,” said Olivia Stack, community health and education coordinator at Cheshire Medical Center, in a prepared statement.
The Cheshire Diabetes Prevention Program runs on Tuesdays from 5pm to 6pm. Interested participants must attend a virtual briefing session where they meet the trainers and learn more about the program to see if it fits well.
Contact Stack at 603-354-6866 or ostack@cheshire-med.com to schedule a briefing. Program spaces are limited.
