The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) confirmed that semaglutide increases insulin secretion by binding and activating the GLP-1 receptor (glucagon-like peptide-1). Semaglutide also suppresses glucagon secretion and slows gastric emptying, meaning those who take it will feel full longer. Other side effects of the drug may include constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, tiredness and gastrointestinal discomfort.
New research – published in The New England Journal of Medicine – shows that tirzepatide has better results compared to semagutide.
In the 40-week study, tirzepatid lowered blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes by more than 1 mg of semagutide as an injection.
Participants who received the highest dose of tirzepatide lost 12.4 kg compared to 6.2 kg in those who received semaglutide.
Knowing that obesity is a risk factor for developing type 2 diabetes and that remission can be achieved through weight loss, the researchers are excited to see the results.

A dose of 15 mg Tirzepatid lowered blood sugar levels by an average of -2.46 percent.
Even a 5 mg dose of tirzepatide lowered blood sugar levels by about -2.09 percent.
