Florida Division of Well being encouraging residents to enroll in diabetes self-management lessons

The Florida Department of Health in Marion County is encouraging residents to enroll in diabetes self-management courses.

If you have diabetes, controlling diabetes is an important part of living a healthy life. Fortunately, residents will soon have the opportunity to take free diabetes self-management courses that will guide them on the path to health success.

The Marion County Hospital District (in partnership with the Florida Department of Health in Marion County) is hosting Wednesdays, July 21 through August 25, at the Marion County Hospital District office, located at 2547 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala ).

The courses are hands-on and help residents learn about diabetes and the changes to their daily habits to ensure they can control it effectively. Instructors will cover: Understanding Diabetes, Caring for the Diabetic Body, Risk Factors, Monitoring Blood Sugar, Meal Planning, Physical Activity, Diabetes Complications, and Medication and Medical Care

People 65 and over and / or Medicare beneficiaries are particularly encouraged to attend, but everyone is welcome to attend the sessions. Interested parties are asked to register in advance. To register or for more information, contact Jessica Cole at 352-619-4307 or [email protected]
