People are being asked to do their best and participate in a charity fundraiser this weekend.

The Lindo’s to Lindo’s Walk / Run is scheduled to take place from Friday in aid of the Bermuda Diabetes Association. The Lindo Group of Companies and the Bermuda Diabetes Association are hosting the annual event, which this year will take place March 19-21 in a new format in St. George’s.

Physical distancing will be observed throughout the event, with participants completing a tour of St. George’s in their own time and at their own pace.

The route begins at King’s Square before passing Gates Fort, the new St Regis Hotel, and Tobacco Bay and returning to the square via the golf course and Unfinished Church.

Zach Moniz, Lindos Family Foods manager, said, “This is a great incentive for people to get some fresh air, stretch their legs and enjoy the sunshine as they raise funds for an incredibly important cause. We hope everyone in St. George’s is wearing their t-shirts. “

Participants are encouraged to showcase their participation and support for the event by posting “selfies” at key points on their walk and posting them on the event’s Facebook page.

The main locations are: Gates Fort; Virginia Settler Plaque; Tobacco bay; St. George’s Golf Course; and the unfinished church.

Entrants have the chance to win one of three restaurant vouchers, four Esso Gas gift cards, or, if they collect more than $ 100, two Jet Blue round-trip certificates to each city.

Attendees will also receive other perks from local businesses in St. George’s to recognize their donation.

Those who eat or drink at Wahoo’s Bar and Grill before or after their racetrack can show off their bib number for the chance to win a $ 100 voucher.

The Wharf Restaurant and Bar is offering attendees showing their bibs a 10 percent discount off lunch or dinner at the facility during the event.

Kelly’s Sea Glass is offering attendees a 20 percent discount on all jewelry, while Bermuda Linens and 1612 commissions are giving attendees a 10 percent discount on purchases with confirmation of attendance throughout the weekend.

Sara Bosch de Noya, Diabetes Advisor at the Bermuda Diabetes Association, said, “After the events of last year, it is important for us to focus the community on health, wellness and physical activity.

“We wanted to be able to continue the dynamism of this event. It is an important fundraiser on our calendar and we are very grateful for the continued support of the Lindo family and their commitment to diabetes care in Bermuda. “

Those who wish to participate can register online at www.RunSignUp.com by doing a search for “Diabetes”. Admission is $ 20 per person. Each participant receives an event t-shirt and a water bottle from BDA Spirits.

The water bottle and T-shirt can be collected from the Bermuda Diabetes Association at 22 Princess Street in Hamilton on Wednesday March 17th and Thursday March 18th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
