Dr. CV Krishnaswami’s public service and efforts are praised

A book on diabetes called Handbook for Education and Practical Support for Diabetes Mellitus, written by Y. Ramalakshmi and edited by Premas Medical and Diabetes Research Center (PMDRC), was published here on Monday.

Speaking at the event, N. Murali, Director of Kasturi and Sons Limited and President of the Music Academy, praised the efforts of PMDRC’s CV Krishnaswami.

Mr. Murali recalled Dr. Krishnaswami’s service to the public, and especially his long stint at the VHS hospital, said the doctor was an entity in itself that chose to do community service in medicine rather than serving in the corporate health care sector.

He added that Dr. Krishnaswami, who was practical in his approach, did not recommend tests unnecessarily, and demystified the diseases of his patients.

S. Gurumurthy, editor of Thuglak Magazine said it was becoming rarer to see people like Dr. To find Krishnaswami with strong value systems at a time when the field of medicine was becoming the most commercialized and even “bordering on blackmail”.

RT Chari, philanthropist and chief executive of TAG Corporation, said he looked at Dr. Krishnaswami as a reference standard for doctors.

Ms. Ramalakshmi said the book was based on the teachings of Dr. Krishnaswami and was written for the Indian audience in a way that everyone could understand.

Price not fixed

Dr. Krishnaswami said the price of the book was not set because the intent was to make it available to as many people as possible, whether they could afford it or not.

D. Parthasarathi of TC Trust published the book.
