From Aaron Humes: Honorary Consul of Israel in Belize, Rose Wischenka, has donated care packages to the Belize Diabetes Association for people with diabetes.

The Middle Eastern state celebrates 73 years of independence this week and its government has directed its diplomatic missions and consulates around the world to undertake humanitarian tasks where and whenever action is required.

Diabetes patients were selected because of their particular challenges during the pandemic. The donation is intended to help improve their quality of life and raise public awareness.

Consul Wischenka stated: “[The packages] This includes groceries and diabetes items like syringes, glucose monitors and strips, lancets, face masks, hand sanitizers, and other PPE to aid in COVID-19 prep. We also donate a certain amount to sponsor radio and television commercials to help raise awareness about diabetes. “

She passed on the continued commitment of the State of Israel to the people of Belize in these challenging times. The countries have close bilateral relations through the Belize-accredited Israeli Embassy in Mexico and have recently collaborated on a variety of issues.
