A Kansas City man was charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a fitness instructor near Street 19 and Vine last month. Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said 29-year-old Jerronn Anderson was charged with first degree murder and armed crime in the U.S. Assassination of Gary Taylor on April 25. According to court documents, a surveillance video showed the shooting and helped detectives track the alleged shooter’s movements after the shooting. While checking the various cameras, court documents saw Detectives seeing Taylor walking south on Vine Street with two of his friends. As the group approaches 19th Street, Taylor stops and turns north. The suspect approaches the group from the north. As Taylor turns south away from the suspect, the suspect pulls out a pistol and fires it at Taylor, who then falls to the ground. After Taylor was shot dead, police said the two friends made handguns and fired them at the shooter. According to court records, Anderson drove to a hospital, checked in under his name, and said he was shot near 39th Street and Topping Avenue. Police said a witness identified Anderson as the one who shot Taylor. Prosecutors have asked for $ 250,000 bail.

According to court records, a surveillance video showed the shooting and helped detectives track the alleged shooter’s movements after the shooting.
