Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia was once again named the nation’s No. 1 hospital for pediatric diabetes and endocrinology in the US News & World Report’s 2021-2022 Best Children’s Hospitals ranking.
Best Children’s Hospitals methodology measures patient outcomes, including mortality and infection rates, as well as available clinical resources and compliance with best practices, according to a press release from US News & World Report.

This year, the top pediatric hospital rankings had expanded offerings, including state and regional multi-state rankings; CHOP has also been rated as a top hospital for the Mid-Atlantic region.
“This award reflects the extraordinary commitment of each and every member of the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes to fulfill our mission to provide our patients with excellent, comprehensive, evidence-based and compassionate clinical care.” Diva D. De Leon-Crutchlow, MD, MSCE, The chief of endocrinology and diabetes at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) said Healio. “We believe in the importance of individualized and patient-centered care and our programs are geared towards that approach, bringing together a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, nurses, social workers, nutritionists, community nurses and other specialists. ”
The list includes 50 centers in 10 pediatric specialties: cancer, cardiology and cardiac surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and pulmonary surgery, and urology.

For the eighth consecutive year, Boston Children’s Hospital led the Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll, which recognizes institutions that “provide exceptional quality care in multiple specialties,” according to the press release. CHOP took second place in this year’s Honor Roll ranking.
To compute the ranking of the best children’s hospitals, US News collected relevant data from children’s hospitals and from pediatricians and other health organizations in early 2020 in 2021; Due to the pandemic, the data collection from children’s hospitals was not repeated in 2021.
