LIMA – King of Hartz Nutrition opened on Wednesday at 1062 Bellefontaine Avenue in Lima.

The business is owned by Chris Hartzell.

“I’ve always wanted to own my own business,” said Hartzell. “We not only serve shakes and teas, but also waffles and parfaits.”

The business is similar to others that have sprung up in the area, such as Sblended Nutrition and Phoenix Nutrition in Lima and The Lantern in Bluffton.

“I think we all bring something a little different to the table where traditional clubs make a shake, aloe, tea and that’s where they go. We have just opened and we not only make shakes, teas and aloes, but different types of food as well. We’re trying to come in with some omelette ideas and actually bring breakfast, lunch and dinner instead of just traditional shakes, ”Hartzell said.

Hartzell is pleased to now be able to open its shop, which is located in a heavily frequented location.

“The whole idea was to find a suitable location. We have Lima Senior down the street, Lima Memorial across the street (we are) between two pretty busy restaurants, Pizza Hut and Happy Daz, so there is a lot of pedestrian and car traffic right next to the freeway, ”said Hartzell.

Hartzell planned a grand opening on December 18th.

“It’s going to be a huge event, as they call it a party. We have some door prizes that we would like to distribute. We have some drink specials that we will be offering, ”said Hartzell.

Hartzell hopes to be able to help people to get well.

“I got my foot in the door of the first club I’ve ever been to – The Well in Van Wert. Then basically everything changed. From then on I lost 20 pounds and then gained about 10 pounds of muscle but not just the mindset, it really helped me and there is a lot of community engagement. So we don’t just serve shakes, we are also happy to help young people. You have to start with them when they are young, start with the healthy habits, ”said Hartzell.

King of Hartz Nutrition is open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m.
