Vijayawada: Just hours after the death of her 25-year-old son, a woman died of a heart attack in the village of Gundlakonda, Kurnool district. Sandeep (25), who was mentally disabled, suffered from various diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure from a young age.
On Saturday, Sandeep was rushed to Kurnool Government Hospital after his sugar levels rose above the danger level. He finally died late at night. On Sunday morning, a heartbroken Sampat Kumari, 48, the mother of Sandeep, suffered a heart attack and died within four hours in the same government hospital after learning of her son’s death.
Local sources said that Sampat Kumari lost her husband to a cardiac arrest about three years ago and that both mother and son lived alone. Sampat Kumari ran as a YSRC candidate in the last election for the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituance (MPTC). Other YSRC officials paid her final respects as family members willing to say one last adieu to the mother and son. TNN
