ENID, okla. – A program specifically designed for people with type 2 diabetes and their families, but open to anyone who wants to learn to eat healthier and increase their physical activity, was planned by the OSU Expansion Center in Garfield County starting in May .
Joy Rhodes, FCS Extension Educator in Garfield County, FCS, will be teaching LEAD Class (LEAD) on Tuesday, May 4th at 5:15 pm at Garfield County OSU Center, 316 East Oxford.
The LEAD class consists of four separate sessions that provide information on the good life with diabetes, good food with diabetes, and physical activity with diabetes. In addition to May 4th, the courses will take place on Tuesdays on May 11th, 18th and 25th. All courses take place from 5.15pm to 6.15pm
A $ 30 course fee covers all four sessions, one meal at each meeting, and all handouts and recipes. The meal consists of a snack, a main course, a starchy side dish, vegetables and a dessert with a goal of 45-60 grams of total carbohydrates for the meal.
