MARYVILLE, Missouri – A recent donation from Lions Club International will be used for community diabetes prevention.
Lions District 26-M4, which encompasses most of northwest Missouri, donated $ 760 to Mosaic Medical Center – Maryville’s Diabetes Awareness Program, according to a news release.
“The donation opens up new opportunities for us to provide our community with much-needed help and information,” said Debra Hull, certified diabetes educator at MMC-M.
Hull said that with a previous Lions donation, Mosaic reached thousands of people through a series of Facebook educational videos about type 2 diabetes, and also purchased props and other items for diabetes prevention classes.
“Thanks to our local Lions clubs, we have been able to spread more information, reach thousands of people in creative ways, and enable so many adults and children to have healthier futures,” said Hull. “These opportunities would never have been realized if Lions hadn’t come forward with their generous donation. It was a great honor to work on these projects with such a dedicated group of great people as Lions. “
