SINGING legend Lloyd Price died at the age of 88 after battling diabetes.
Price died in a long-term care facility in New Rochelle, New York, his wife, Jacqueline Price, told the Associated Press.

“Lawdy Miss Clawdy” was a number 1 hit on the R&B charts in 1952.
The hit sold over a million copies and became a standard covered by other singers like Elvis Presley and Little Richard.
The vocal legend served in the Korean military in the mid-1950s and restarted his career in 1957 with the hits “Just Since” and the pop-oriented “Stagger Lee”.
“I had to come up with a few pieces of text about Stagger Lee and Billy who are having some kind of argument over a girl,” Price told Billboard in 2013, according to the Associated Press. “It didn’t make any sense. It was ridiculous. “

In the early 1960s he made his debut with his business partner Harold Logan at a label. They also ran a nightclub in New York together.
When Logan was murdered in 1969, moved to Nigeria, he moved to Nigeria and came back in the 1980s.
After his return he went on tour and played songs with Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis, among others.
