Franklin Beauty Studio Beautique’s ethos revolves around the perfect balance between beauty and grooming.

In fact, it was the alignment of outer pampering with inner wellbeing that sparked salon founder Jessica Peris’ latest project – a thoughtful and curated range of hand and cuticle oils called From the Be.

Originally inspired by the events of 2020 and the global obsession with hand washing, Jessica said that a luxurious hand and cuticle oil was always on the menu for one of Canberra’s most popular nail salons.

“It was always a distant idea for us to develop cuticle oils that would be in line with our nail-focused services at The Beautique. During the lockdown in 2020, we finally had the opportunity to think about moving the idea forward. “

“With so much hand washing and hand disinfection, our hands really suffered, but we also realized how powerful they are and had a new appreciation for our hands and the effect of their touch.”

“That at The Be. The brand philosophy revolves around our hands and their underestimated importance. For many of us who work with our hands, our livelihoods depend on whether you are a craftsman, an artist, a creator, a mother, a father or a musician. “

The oils are naturally extracted, cruelty-free and hand-mixed in small batches in Canberra, “made with love from start to finish”. There are three fragrances to choose from, with each blend containing a variety of essential oils.

“The blend of essential oils has been viewed holistically not only for its fragrance or topical benefits, but also for its spiritual and emotional benefits, a tribute to the fields of aromatherapy and herbalism,” says Jessica.

The three mixes are:

  • Lumiere – A sweet mix of citrus and vanilla. Uplifting for clarity and charisma.
  • Obscure – rose mixed with patchouli and frankincense. Soothing and grounding – healing for the skin and heart.
  • Sombre — A dreamy blend of Australian nerolina and lavender. Balancing to calm body and mind.

Jessica explains that the names of each fragrance are inspired by the times of day – Lumiere refers to light or morning, Obscure refers to dusk, and Sombre refers to darkness or night.

But don’t be fooled by the fragrances and beautiful packaging – these oils are a real stunner for tired hands.

“They’re packed with all of the nutrients to improve the appearance of rough, dry, and damaged skin. One of our main ingredients is camellia seed oil, a natural emollient that locks in moisture very effectively, but is super light and doesn’t leave a greasy finish, ”says Jessica.

Based on the popularity of facial oils, which Jessica said “have become hugely popular,” By The Be oils are both a nourishing treatment and a sensory experience.

“Natural vegetable oils are super nourishing and offer many benefits that most water-based moisturizers don’t have,” explains Jessica, adding that you only need one drop per hand.

“I put two drops on the back of my left hand, then use the back of my right hand to mix the product together and spread the oil over my fingers and cuticles.”

“You can rub the excess into the palms of your hands or the ends of your hair. We recommend taking a moment once a day to thank your hands for the hard work they are doing. I love to make it part of my evening ritual and linger on the soft scent before I fall asleep. “

For Jessica, the ultimate goal has always been to create a product that she would need among The Beautique’s dedicated customers.

“The word“ Be ”has many different connotations – it started out as a play on words for“ von The Beautique ”but grew to become much more than that and evolved into a unit of its own. Just be, exist, be present – whatever our audience wants. “
