The newly renamed Meta (formerly Facebook) has big plans for fitness and those Metaverse. Meta has just acquired one of Oculus Quest’s best-known subscription-based fitness companies, Within, which makes an Oculus app called Supernatural. The app connects to Apple Watches to track heart rate in real time and works similarly to Apple Fitness Plus and Amazon is coming Halo fitness video service.
Supernatural was one of the first subscription-based services on the Oculus Quest (soon called the Meta-quest). The app that combines instructor video avatars with. used Motion-controlled training Routines (Boxing just added), feels like a booted up fitness version of the VR game at times Defeat sabers.

“Our partnership with Meta means we have more resources to expand and bring you more music, more creative workouts, more features and more social experiences for VR,” CEO Chris Milk said in a statement Friday.

It looks like a move that could allow Meta to develop more fitness and health endeavors for future headsets or products. “Together we will also explore ways in which we can improve future hardware to support VR fitness apps and encourage other developers to bring new fitness experiences into VR. The support for connected smartwatches for live heart rate measurements during exercise is possibly the most fascinating feature of the app as it applies to meta. Meta has its own fitness app for motion tracking on the Oculus Quest called Oculus Move, but still no deeper support for connected smartwatches. Mark Zuckerberg spoke to CNET earlier this year and expressed an interest in fitness and fitness sensors. Meta is expected to be makes his own smartwatch, and works on the wrist Accessories for neural inputs for future smart glasses.
