The New York Credit Union Association – Long Island Chapter, including the Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union, recently presented Cohen Children’s Medical Center with a check for $ 30,000, the equivalent of the amount that would normally be raised through that group’s annual golf excursion.

For the past 28 years, Long Island Credit Unions have held a charity golf trip to raise funds for nonprofits in counties Nassau and Suffolk. In 2020, the 29th annual Long Island Credit Unions Golf Outing was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the credit unions appealed to the annual supporters and fulfilled their promise to the Cohen Children’s Medical Center’s child diabetes program with a donation that was comparable to previous years.

“The pandemic would not stop us from supporting the important work of the Pediatric Diabetes Program at Cohen Children’s Medical Center,” said Joe Tedesco, President and CEO of OFFCU. “We and our colleagues at Long Island credit unions are proud to continue this tradition of helping children and families facing such great challenges.”
