Nick Jonas is making his Super Bowl commercial debut for a cause that is very close to his heart.

The 28-year-old singer stars in an ad for Dexcom, a glucose monitoring system for diabetes management.

Jonas has type 1 diabetes and hopes that his resemblance to the company will help raise awareness about the disease.

“I’m excited to see the big game this Sunday and start a conversation about a better way to treat diabetes. Go to http://DexcomGameDay.com now to see the first #dexcom #ad commercial.” “he wrote on Twitter.

The 30-second commercial that airs in the first quarter of the game shows how Dexcom does not monitor glucose levels with conventional fingersticks.

“I try to be transparent because I feel like I have a very special opportunity to be a recognizable face to young and older people living with this disease and to show that it is possible to lead a normal life lead, “said Jonas Adweek.

“It’s an amazing tool, when I can just pull out my phone – which I’m looking at more than I probably should anyway – and right there my numbers, my readings, where I’m going, where I’m going – it’s an incredible tool. ” he added.

“In an environment like COVID, this is more relevant than ever. The fact that people struggle with their health and are somewhat isolated. For people who cannot get to their doctor, they can do so remotely using our technology.” said Chad Patterson, senior VP, global marketing, Dexcom, in a statement to Ad Age.
