Would you like to start a new font or a creative project? Would you like to go back to the site, but find yourself blocked? Take part in the NYCWP’s Generative Writing Bootcamp from June 1st to 3rd, from 7pm to 9pm, for three days to generate your own creative writing! During this three-day “boot camp”, writers have the opportunity to grapple with a variety of prompts and take part in micro-studies of various craft elements, creative shapes, and model readings. Would you like to help clean up local gardens to plant in spring and summer? Then join the Bronx River Alliance on May 27th from 10am to 12pm for Ordinary Thursday. Help remove rubbish and support the local gardens with spring planting and maintenance. Tasks include picking up trash, removing weeds, maintaining green infrastructure, and planting. Hand sanitizer, masks, gloves, social distancing guidelines, and temperature checks are all provided to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. Bronx River Arts Center (BRAC) presents “Streams of Black Music” A series of concerts in honor of Black Music Month in June 2021. MOVE
Members of the Kingsbridge Historical Society (KHS) become one Revolutionary tour from Spuyten Duyvil and Kingsbridge on June 12th from 11am to 1pm. The group will visit the locations of several small forts, the strategic King’s Bridge, and a well-known local tavern. Members will also stop at the residences of local residents whose lives have been changed and whose families have been divided by conflict.
Capacity is limited so this event is for members only and reservations are required. The walk begins at the Henry Hudson Memorial in Henry Hudson Park on W. 227th Street and Independence Avenue and ends on W. 231st Street and Broadway. Various Adult programs will be held at Williamsbridge Oval Park throughout the summer, including chair exercises, circuit training, kripalu yoga, spin-biking, painting, and sculpture.
