“The Philippine Fitness Alliance is disappointed with the latest quarantine classifications for Metro Manila, which prohibit closed industries with overcrowded and close contact (3CS), including gyms and fitness centers, from resuming operations below alert level 4,” the organization said.
Metro Manila is currently on Alert Level 4. IATF guidelines prohibit gyms and facilities such as libraries, indoor sports studios, museums, cinemas, theaters, bars, theme parks, internet cafes and arcades on the metro.
The PFA, which was founded this year, has Anytime Fitness, Celebrity Fitness, Fitness First, Gold’s Gym, Slimmer’s World and UFC Gym among its members.

Following its appeal to the government last June, the Alliance reiterated its “vigilance” in implementing government health protocols at facilities, including social distancing, wearing face masks and limiting overall capacity
“This vigilance has resulted in zero on-site broadcasts in gyms and fitness centers,” the PFA said.

Fitness Alliance highlights research on the fitness industry
The PFA has protested the continued shutdown of the industry by writing, “There is an abundance of research from around the world”.
