Pune cops get classes on health from ironman titleholders

Four triathletes who have won the Ironman event held a training session for the staff of the Samarth police station on the importance of fitness in the face of the hectic and stressful working life of the police.

The session was attended by around 80 police officers and staff, as well as 20 community police volunteers who are helping the police during the Ganesh Festival. Chief Inspector Vishnu Tamhane from Samarth Police Station said, “The festival season is particularly hectic for police officers. There are longer working hours and work becomes more stressful. The importance of general fitness was further emphasized by the pandemic. The triathletes who master the Ironman challenges are the best people to tell us about the importance of general fitness. “

The guidance session was held by four local triathletes including 35-year-old Dr. Kauthubh Radkar, who completed the Ironman 28 times. The other three were 64-year-old industrialist Dashrath Jadhav, who completed the challenge six times, 42-year-old orthopedic surgeon Dr. Rahul Zanjurne, who completed it twice, and 42-year-old Hemant Parmar, who completed the race once.

An Ironman triathlon consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a marathon run. It is widely considered to be one of the toughest one-day sporting events in the world.

Dr. In his speech, Radkar highlighted the importance of setting aside at least an hour each day for general fitness. Dashrath Jadhav emphasized the importance of a balanced diet and diet for general well-being and fitness.

Deputy Police Commissioner Priyanka Narnavre congratulated the four triathletes on the occasion. Police officers who did an excellent job were also congratulated during the event.
