Melissa Frion directs Border Nutrition and Massage Moms with Molly Schmidt in downtown Hastings.
Border Nutrition – located at 103 Sibley St. in Hastings – is a health club that serves healthy meal shakes.
Melissa Frion is the distributor of Border Nutrition, which is operated by Herbalife.
She recently sat down to talk about her club and massage mom, which she runs in the same building.
Here’s the conversation:
Can you tell me about border nutrition?
Border Nutrition is a Herbalife product. We make a healthy shake, aloe shot and tea – it’s a combination meal made from tree parts.
So your aloe will soothe your digestive system, your shake will be a full meal replacement for 200 calories and 24 grams of protein, and your tea will boost your metabolism and give you some energy too.
You can also create add-ons. We have things like liftoffs that give you the energy without the crash and contain vitamin Bs. These are available in the flavors pomegranate, lemon-lime, tropical and orange.
Your base combination is $ 8.
Border Nutrition is based at 103 Sibley St. in Hastings and offers healthy shakes.
How did you come up with the recipes for the shakes, teas and shots?
We can find them online.
How long have you been doing Border Nutrition?
We’re open again [Border Nutrition] Mid-January after the previous owner closed it.
Before that there was another owner. Whitney and then CJ Young, the owners of Border Nutrition, took over and reopened in January 2020.
And I probably helped out on the weekends in mid-May and dug my feet in Herbalife.
Now I’m getting to know both of them and I’m starting to run them.
… And hopefully you will soon become the owner of Border Nutrition?
Yes, on the first of the year. You have to be a distributor for a year.
You must become a reseller to run a spa through Herbalife for a year and then you can own your club.
You also run Massage Moms in the same building, can you tell me?
We opened [Massage Moms] on June 1st of this year.
We offer an hour and a 90 minute session. We do prenatal therapy, we do aromatherapy and hopefully we will offer hot stone at some point.
Me and Molly Schmidt run it and we’ve both been therapists for over 10 years.
We used to work for a company and just wanted to get out, so we decided to open our own shop and then through Herbalife we were offered the opportunity to do shakes and massages.
We used to joke that we should just do it because we wanted to buy shakes at other Herbalife clubs and then the opportunity just fell into our laps.
So it should be kind of like that. We got the space and availability so we just went along with it.
