For many, working from home has meant a ton of hours at a desk in a rigid chair that is completely stationary (yawning) over the past year – and possibly in the near future. Even if the majority of us hadn’t yet converted our hall closets and guest rooms into makeshift offices, experts were already warning of the health risks of sitting for longer during working hours. But you don’t even have to get up on your feet or pull out that old ergonomic medicine ball as a desk chair to keep active from home. Enter: Sit2Go by Flexispot.
Flexispot offers standard workstation equipment such as standing desks and adjustable table converters. But they’ve also started to lean in little ways that can help you get even more active with a desk chair that optimizes fitness for your work day so you don’t even have to think about it.
Forget bulky exercise bikes – the Flexispot Sit2Go 2-in-1 fitness chair is the accessible, everyday fitness machine that you never knew you needed. If you’re already someone who gets up and walks around doing the daily steps on your fitness watch, it’s even easier.
What is the Sit2Go 2-in-1 fitness chair?
The Flexispot Sit2Go is one of the most innovative desk solutions (or even home fitness equipment, if we’re honest) we’ve tested. It is an alternative to the average desk chair that allows you to pedal comfortably all day long like a spin bike. Whether you’re working out the jitter at noon, getting an energy boost, or even wanting to get active, this fitness chair is tailored for a wide variety of goals.
Sit2Go 2-in-1 Fitness Chair vs. DeskCycle
In contrast to other pedal trainers under the desk such as the DeskCycle, the Sit2Go is not only suitable for sweating – although both are used as a means to move in basic movements while standing still. The Sit2Go actually functions as a comfortable full size desk chair that you want to sit in all day. The chair has a fully supportive back with breathable mesh fabric and a thick, padded seat.
Many desk-top pedal trainers boast of being “comfortable cardio solutions,” but often don’t provide resistance or all leg movement when the pedal is low on the floor. The Sit2Go delivers results you will actually feel, although we wouldn’t go as far as to call it a full workout. However, you get all of the benefits of a professional exercise bike with adjustable resistance levels that allow you to choose how much you want to challenge yourself.
Like DeskCycle and the other table bikes with LCD screens, the Sit2Go can track all important performance data such as time, distance, calories, resistance and adjustable cardio settings while driving. The screen was all pretty easy to read, although you may have to experiment with button presses to find out what metric you’re on.
Does the Sit2Go 2-in-1 fitness chair work?
The main difference between the Sit2Go and, say, a spin bike designed for exercise, is that it is an easier way to achieve your health and fitness goals throughout the day than a daily workout. I really appreciated how smooth the pedaling was – whisper quiet and so comfortable to ride that I could even step barefoot (which I wouldn’t recommend if you bring this chair into your personal office). Quiet and smooth cycling kept my mind awake (I feared pedaling and typing at the same time would be a little too distracting), so it was easy to stay active while working.
Take a stand at work: the best standing desks for your home and office
The body sits on easily rolling castors so that I could move from room to room, and it was surprisingly light, as big as it actually is. Speaking of size: the seat can be easily adjusted with the one-touch lever even while sitting. One major downside is that even at the lowest height setting, it was still a little too high for my desk so I had to use it at my dining table. We recommend measuring your desk in advance so that you don’t bump the back of your desk’s knees when you step on it.
What we liked: According to the Flexispot website, just five minutes on the Sit2Go can burn the calorie equivalent of a cup of coffee sugar – a full hour lets you burn half a grilled cheese (it’s called “slice of bread with” cheese, “but let’s be real here ) and 100 minutes of “two cupcakes” burns. While that doesn’t seem like much at first glance, the Sit2Go is more intended for those who want to work their way into a fitness routine with light cycling that can be done anytime, anywhere, even when you’re at your desk, reading, or other Perform activities while sitting down. Flexispot even says that using the fitness chair for more than “2-3 hours of light intensity cycling per day” is not recommended.
How much does the Sit2Go 2-in-1 fitness chair cost?
The Flexispot Sit2Go 2-in-1 fitness chair is currently priced at $ 299.99 on the Flexispot website. That’s a great value considering that most budget table bike pedals aren’t that versatile. Regular spin bikes can also cost thousands of dollars. While not a complete replacement, you can still work up a sweat.
If you want to get a little more active, Flexispot also offers a bike trainer stand that you can use to convert your bike into a workout solution for at home. Would you like to stay at your desk? They also offer an under-desk bike that goes with any standing desk you’ve already built into your space.
Flexispot Sit2Go 2-in-1 rating: is the fitness chair worth it?
There are several ways to get active at home. While you can always walk around to take your steps or move on your feet at a standing desk, the Flexispot Sit2Go Fitness Chair helps you take healthy steps from a chair. You can easily pedal without really thinking about the movement, or crank up the resistance for a dynamic mini workout. It’s portable enough to roll but won’t move or shift while cycling. The ability supports up to 220 pounds in weight on its 33.6 “x 20.3” x 37.3 “frame.
The Sit2Go offers a way to start any fitness journey with no excuses – you literally sit down. It’s also cheaper than investing in an exercise bike if you want an exercise machine that won’t go idle for months. Overall, the Sit2Go is a fun way to keep your body moving, keep your mind sharp, and stay fit while working at home. Who knows, you might even turn around in that chair in the office soon enough.
