A year after a global health pandemic, millions of Americans continue to hope for the day when we can all return to some semblance of normalcy – from eating at our favorite restaurants to live concerts, to traveling or exercising at the local gym.
And while many lament the changes that have been necessary since COVID-19 affected our lives, for health advocate and entrepreneur Jean Titus, a changing world hasn’t stopped him from getting the most out of every single day or occasion.
In fact, Titus, 52, the founder and owner of Titus Unlimited and a recent transplant from Silver Spring, Md., To Miami, has continued to improve his brand, drive traffic to his website – well over 100,000 – and stand firm in maintaining his daily Training program and its counseling plan.
The self-identified trainer, nutritionist and Instagram sensation wears a 48-inch chest, 18-inch biceps, limits his caloric intake to 3,400 calories a day, and works out for 90 minutes five days a week – all while climbing a gray hill wears hair on the face and body.
And he has a growing base of others including, but certainly not limited to, seasoned black men like him who refuse to accept the idea that life is over when you reach a certain age – whether that’s 40, 50 or beyond is.
“Some believe that going to the gym is difficult and that after you turn 40, when your muscles start to go away, it is harmful to your body,” he said. “But I know better, and I have well over a decade in developing a method that promotes a lifestyle that promotes longevity and greater self-preservation while destroying the myths associated with aging.”
Titus recalls how his mother’s death in 2002 was a pivotal time in his life – a pivotal moment in time that led him to embark on a new path and a new way of living, eating, reflecting, and ultimately to thrive.
“For those looking to stay fit ‘forever’, I recommend that they focus on their daily tasks: falling in love with the process, being consistent, which is the same, and remembering that you are your only one Are competition. In other words, strive to exceed yesterday’s output to meet your goals, ”said Titus, often referred to as a“ torn grandpa ”.
“After losing both of my parents to cancer, especially my mother, who was in excellent health her entire life, I began to question my own mortality,” he said. “I knew I had to do something else and realized that I was on a runaway train that would put me in the same situation if I didn’t make any changes. I started studying nutrition and studying my lifestyle. “
“I’d trained, lifted weights for about 30 years and always been an athletic person, but I was still about 237 pounds. I was overweight. So I started cleansing my body – to detoxify myself. “
“People say this pain is part of getting older, but I’ve learned that it really comes from our diet – or rather, from our diet. This is the essential element for longer life and a better quality of life. When I started developing my personal method, which took about 10 years, I ended up turning it into a plan and then a business. This is how Titus Unlimited came about. Others wanted to adopt my plan and process and I got tired of saying the same thing over and over. It worked for me and I realized that I had come across something that a lot of people had been looking for. “
“Look, I’m not a personal trainer,” he said. “I mean, you can find a million videos from people saying they can teach you the ultimate workout plan. In all honesty, you’re only in the gym for an hour or two. The time remaining should be related to your diet and lifestyle. If you eat crap, you will look like crap. If you are serious about it, you need to make time for your health and wellbeing, just as we make time for our work and everything else. “
“It’s amazing, but American doctors devote about a day of all of their medical training to nutrition,” he said. “And that’s exactly what kills Americans, young and old – lack of knowledge about nutrition. Take the obesity problem. Statistics show that in the US the rate is 43 percent – I say it’s higher. “
“The numbers say that black women are the most obese of all Americans at 55 percent. Again I say the number is higher. But we’re not talking about being overweight. We’re talking about being obese. Seventy percent of Americans are overweight. And in children, that’s because the foods they eat are low in nutrients – mostly processed foods. “
“Keep in mind that the average man between 18 and 35 years old actually has lower testosterone levels than men like me who were born in the 1970s or 60s. Why? Because their basic nutrition and activity levels are significantly different from men in their fifties or older. As a result, they are more likely to suffer from obesity, hormonal imbalances, and erectile dysfunction. “
Titus offers a number of nutritional supplements as part of his business benefits, which he is both developing and now commercializing as part of his business. But he says there never was and never will be a magic pill.
“There is so much incorrect information,” he said. “And there is more money to keep people unhealthy. But when social media caught me and the volume got incredible, I started marketing my self-preservation program. It is a great win when people stay sick or in debt under US capitalism. What we don’t learn as young people are nutrition or financial knowledge. “
“My goal is to help people get and stay healthy. Look at cancer rates, which have increased tenfold since 1980. Instead of a cure, let’s talk about the things we can do to prevent cancer. People don’t talk about it – least of all enough. “
Titus also works with a group of black men known as the Silver Fox Squad, and he says it’s been a pleasure.
“Most of the brothers are over 50 and all influencers and business people who are successful themselves,” he said. “But like me, they have realized that they have a lot to give to the world and that they still have a lot of things left to do. Together we want to inspire each other and those who work to keep the fire burning. And believe me, at 52 I still have a lot of life and I plan to enjoy every day and every moment. “
