It takes a community. And in a town like Guilford, when you visit Guilford you will leave after meeting some very nice people.
They have a non-profit fitness center in Guilford. Community fitness friends on the high street. And they found a creative way to raise the funds needed to run the fitness center.
The first annual Cycl-a-Thon. Dozens have registered to take part. Dozens of individuals and companies have pledged to support the attendees’ efforts. The Cycl-a-Thon is a 2 mile loop. Everyone is invited to run, run or cycle the loop as often as they want, between 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Adult registration fee is $ 15 to participate in hiking, running, or biking and children are free.
And many prizes and, of course, food during the event. And bouncy castles and face painting for the children.
You can pre-register at (207) 876-4813 or use that number to provide a pledge of support, and you can also sign up to participate in running, running, or biking on the day of the event that Saturday. All proceeds go towards the modernization of the center.
The Friends of Community Fitness is a 24 hour 7 days a week fitness center, but also a senior center and as the name suggests a community center.
