Texas Governor Appoints Francis to Diabetes Council – STL.Information

Greg Abbott, Austin, TX Governor (STL.News) appointed Gary Francis, MD, Ph.D. to the Texas Diabetes Council for a term that expires February 1, 2027. The council addresses issues affecting people with diabetes in Texas and advises Texan lawmakers on laws needed to develop and maintain a statewide system of quality educational services for all people with diabetes and health professionals who have diabetes Offer treatment and education.

Gary Francis, MD, Ph.D. of San Antonio is Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Thyroid Association, the Endocrine Society, the American Thyroid Association Policy Committee, and the Clinical Thyroidology Editorial Board. He was honorably discharged as a retired colonel in the US Army. Francis received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, a medical doctor degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine, and a PhD in philosophy in biochemistry from the University of Florida.

This appointment requires confirmation by the Senate.
