Imagine this test:
You warm up for 5-10 minutes with light to moderate exertion on a bicycle ergometer, rest for 5 minutes, and then ride at full power for 3 minutes. No “hard exertion for 3 minutes”, I mean 100% exertion with every single pedal stroke. 10 seconds become 30 seconds, then 90 and then 180. The whole point of the test is that it is a comprehensive test and it shouldn’t stop being a comprehensive test until the test is over. It’s absolutely one of the most terrifying tests out there.
At the end of the test, when the output is plotted against time, you will get a graph like this:
