MEDINA – Diet in the District and the current programs were presented to the school board at this week’s meeting.
“We have a program on our website called the Meal Viewer. The Meal Viewer gives you the details, menu and nutritional value for your meals. This is actually another safety concern for our students, as students with food allergies or other problems can keep track of carbohydrates and meal items that they will buy at all schools, “said Robert Whitaker, Interim Director of Business Affairs.
In addition, free meals (breakfast and lunch) were made available to students during the pandemic. The lunches are packaged and prepared by the county staff, and the free meals eliminate the need for needle blocks at most schools.
Claggett Middle School and High School have opened additional food streets and created new eating areas for students to spread out. In primary schools, too, some students eat in the cafeteria and others in their classrooms.
These procedures help create efficient lines, promote social distancing, and keep kids healthy and fed.
In other news, Superintendent Aaron Sable thanked the outgoing board members for their hard work, dedication, and service. He wished them all the best as their term of office came to an end and new members prepared to rise.
