Mothers overcome “nutritional problems” for their children by giving them “Lakas at Talas”

Diet has always been a pressing issue, especially now that families are becoming more prone to health and economic problems. During these troubled times, mothers’ resilience has inspired the Alaska Fortified Powdered Milk Drink team to conduct a survey to better understand their nutritional needs and issues that have emerged during the pandemic.

The survey was conducted among members of the Facebook community MOMs of Alaska (MOMAs), a group for mothers who advocate proper nutrition for their children. And while diet remains a priority of theirs, the survey found that it was taking a back seat to more pressing concerns like helping the family finances, budgeting limited incomes for food, health and safety needs, juggling family responsibilities, and the like is.

The survey received responses from nearly 300 mothers from different walks of life such as housewives, call center agents, online salespeople, teachers, salespeople and many more. The majority of respondents said that household planning concerns about groceries, staple groceries and bills have made it difficult for their families to feed. Half of the respondents are struggling to lose their job and a fifth of them struggle to reconcile their family responsibilities.

During these troubled times, Jenevev, a street vendor and mother of two, outlined her priorities. “Even during a pandemic, family health should not be neglected. So I make sure that my children always get the right nutrition (even during the pandemic we shouldn’t neglect the health of our family. So I make sure that my children get the food they need), ”says Jenevev.

She’s not the only one in the community who feels that way. Under these extraordinary circumstances, Jonalene, a housewife and mother of two, is struggling for financial reasons to ensure that her children are adequately fed.

“Even though budgeting 100 a day is difficult, I still try to give my kids nutritious foods like vegetables. Simple stir-fry vegetables are fine (“Even though it’s hard to budget 100 a day, I am still trying to find ways to give my kids healthy foods like vegetables. A simple stir-fry dish is fine),” says Jonalene.

66.3 percent of respondents who give their families the highest priority do not have the means to afford the nutritious meals they want.

Most of the respondents agree with this assessment. 66.3 percent of respondents who give their families the highest priority do not have the means to afford the nutritious meals they want. In addition to these problems, the pandemic continues to transform the lifestyles and consumption habits of families everywhere. 81.3 percent of respondents prioritize their spending on pandemics like face masks and alcohol over other products, making it even more difficult for mothers to divide up time and budget on nutrition.

Despite these challenges, mothers want their children to be healthy and growing up properly and understand the importance of taking care of their health in today’s world. As mothers, they always want the best for their children, doing everything they can to feed and nourish them, and giving them proper guidance for healthy living. As a result, mothers are finding ways to put their children’s health and development first.

Moms from the MOMAs community are trying their best to create a healthy environment at home. More than half of respondents (68.2 percent) have made a habit of preparing nutritious meals within their budget, while others (66.3 percent) have started doing family exercises together. And luckily, more mothers (79.8 percent) have found a way to solve their nutritional problems by buying affordable nutritious drinks like milk to give their children the extra nutrition they need on top of healthy meals.

Arlene, a working online mom of two from the MOMAs community, says, “As a mom, it’s always important to me to provide my kids with proper nutrition. This is why affordable milk like Alaska is of great help to me as it is filled with nutrients and health benefits for my children. “
