Hello and welcome to this week’s lounge fitness roundup. Every Saturday we handpick some of the best stories of the week that you might have missed so you can expand your fitness knowledge and improve your workouts. As always, remember that no matter how good your workout is, with a little help and guidance, it can always get better.
This week we have three great stories that focus on different aspects of the fitness journey. While one story explores new scientific knowledge about how our bodies work, a second story looks at the importance of building your glutes. Finally, a third story deals with the importance of flexibility and suggests two great stretches to incorporate into your workout.

Much of what we thought we knew about exercise and fitness is being challenged by new scientific discoveries. That is a good thing, because it increases our knowledge of the body and with it our understanding of movement processes.
Lounge fitness author Shrenik Avlani goes over a number of key new research findings that are forcing fitness professionals to look at things like metabolism, cardiovascular health, and diseases like diabetes in a different light. As he writes in the story, it is probably time to look at your fitness goals and journey in a new way. A story worth reading.

In this story, lounge writer and fitness enthusiast Preeti Zachariah lists the different exercises you need to do if you want a strong and booty bum. This is something she is aiming for as a fitness goal, and as she argues in this article, so should you.
It lists three excellent exercises you can do, along with videos that show you how to do them that don’t require weights. Exercises such as the gluteal bridge, donkey kicks and the lateral belt run can be performed anywhere and anytime.

Fitness is a holistic process in which you focus not only on your cardiovascular capacity, but also on building your stretch. While this is pretty well known, it sometimes loses the fact that you need to work on your flexibility as well. As Lounge Fitness editor Bibek Bhattacharya writes in this article, your body needs to be strong, but also flexible.
Stiffness is your enemy and if you don’t incorporate enough flexibility and stretches into your workouts, you run the risk of injuring yourself too. In this story, Bhattacharya lists two excellent flexibility routines that you should incorporate into your weekly workout split.
