As if last year wasn’t tough enough for Toronto gyms, the cherry on their proverbial horrific cake was when their trailer of approximately $ 50,000 worth of equipment was stolen.

Crossfit Greektown began offering outdoor classes last year as gyms had to close due to the ongoing pandemic.

After the couple behind the business asked their customers to bring their own kettlebells or other small items, they decided to invest in a truck and trailer, as well as all of the equipment needed to run their own outdoor programs.

Even when gyms got the green light to let people back inside to a limited extent, the popularity of outdoor classes led the Crossfit Greektown team to decide to keep them going.

“We bought the truck specifically for that, it’s not like we had it anyway,” co-founder Jon Dunnill told blogTO.

“Because we had this opportunity, we took a different path when we got the okay to let people in again. The fact that we could have these really fantastic outdoor courses people wanted us to do. “

However, after parking the trailer near Carlaw and Dundas’ house on Thursday evening, they woke up Friday morning to find it had been stolen.

After offering 20 outdoor classes a week since purchasing the truck and equipment, the Crossfit team thought they needed to go back to their old system where people had to bring their own gear.

Fortunately, the truck and its contents were recovered by Toronto police late Friday night for business to recover in a post-lockdown world.
