LANSING, Michigan – Since 2007, the Michigan Fitness Foundation (MFF) and the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health, and Exercise (Council) have presented the Governor’s Fitness Awards (GFA) to recognize Michigan communities, organizations, and individuals who are healthy Stimulate decisions. Each spring, held with a legislative and gala event, hundreds gather to celebrate those who have given everything to be healthy while giving back to their communities.

“As with many other events, the pandemic has disrupted people’s ability to gather for grand celebrations,” said Peaches McCahill, chairman of the MFF board of directors.

“Since we had done most of our filming before the pandemic started last year, we were able to move and deliver the 2020 prices virtually. This year, given the ongoing pandemic, the foundation has decided to reflect on past awards. “

“As our team scoured the GFA archives filled with the incredible accomplishments of our previous nominees and award winners, the history of the awards themselves and how they evolved over the years began to emerge,” said Amy Ghannam, President and CEO of Michigan Fitness Foundation. “When we started creating and scripting the video, we felt inspired to share this story.”

The GFA retrospective was brought to life with archive material, images, programs and scripts from previous awards ceremonies and with the generous support of Michigan’s Farm Bureau Insurance.
