Whitney Thore first gained fame when she posted a series of videos on YouTube entitled “Fat Girl Dancing”. Thore loved dancing all her life but felt limited as she put on a lot as an early adult. She was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), which causes a large majority of people to gain weight. Inspired by their journey and experiences, the My Big Fat Fabulous Life star launched No BS Active fitness subscription service that focuses on body positivity and health. Although the project experienced some bumps along the way, Whitney Thore recently revealed some exciting news: the new fitness app for No BS Active will be officially released shortly.

You never know who you will meet on a dating app or where that interaction will lead you. Thore actually met personal trainer Ryan Andreas through a dating app. Although there were no sparks, the two became friends. Andreas introduced Thore to her current ex, Chase Severino. He also started a company with her, No BS Active. The subscription-based fitness program aimed to present a fitness program for people of all sizes and experience levels. It attaches great importance to body positivity, with the “BS” standing for body shaming.
Unfortunately, the partnership between Andreas and Thore did not work out. Fans thought from the start that the duo was a disparity, as Andreas is a self-proclaimed “brother”. It is speculated that the relationship became even more strained when Severino and Thore ended their engagement.
No BS Active’s future seemed uncertain after Thore and Severino ended their partnership. The Instagram page hasn’t been removed, but all posts have been removed and Thore announced the deal would be on a month-long hiatus. Fortunately for the members, Thore soon announced a new partnership with her trainer Jessica Powell, and business seems to be doing better than ever.
Whitney Thor’s new fitness app for No Bs Active is out October 1st
Originally, the No BS Active subscription streamed 25 new workouts per month along with an exclusive, supportive Facebook group. The workouts included variations of each exercise so that they are doable for all fitness levels.
Although No BS Active’s progress has been slow, uncertain, and full of bumps, it now seems to be on the right track. Thore and her partner Powell announced on Instagram that a No BS Active app will be launched on October 1st. The new app will continue to include the 25 new workouts per month that members are used to. The app also offers stretching exercises, guided and unguided meditations and tutorials. There will also be dance classes and informational videos. Members have access to a body awareness course in the new app that is likely the best fit for the brand.
Thore has worked towards becoming certified as a personal trainer
Thor’s fitness projects are not exclusive to No BS Active. In keeping with her passion for fitness, Thore decided to pursue a career in personal fitness. She studied for the Personal Training Certification. This season of MBFFL has shown Thore studying hard for her exam, including using a model skeleton. During the season, Thore also dealt with the reality of weight phobia in the fitness industry.
In addition to her certification, Thore is on track to regain her pre-COVID-19 fitness level. Powell works hard to inspire Thore to work hard. Powell has had an incredible fitness journey himself. Together, the duo feel that they have what it takes to inspire others while maintaining body positivity.
