LOVE SUNPOINTS: I’m looking for a woman I met a few years ago at the Common Ground Fair in Unity. She sold herbs, essential oils, and teas. I think she was from the Skowhegan area and had a long braid. I would like to find her so I can buy more products from her, but I don’t know how to find her or if she’s still in store. It’s been a while since I last saw her. – Period, not a city
REPLY: I know exactly who you’re talking about. Gail Faith Edwards of Blessed Maine Herb Farm in Athens, Maine is still very busy and I know she will be glad you came to see her. She is a wonderful resource and a very helpful, thoughtful person who is always ready to share her knowledge.
Gail can be reached at [email protected] or at [email protected]. You can also reach them through their Blessed Maine Herb Farm Facebook page or website (Blessedmaineherbs.com).
As an added bonus in answering your question and for anyone else curious about it, Gail is one of 10 Maine women featured in Lauren Shaw’s beautiful documentary Maine Women: Living in the Country (mainewomenlivingontheland.com) . This is a beautiful, well-told story of extraordinary women who make a living from this place we Mainers call home. I can only recommend watching it as it is very inspiring and informative.
LOVE SUN POINTS: I have a 1940s typewriter that is very heavy. It’s free to anyone who wants to give it a new home. Please contact me at 783-3213. – Claire, Auburn
REPLY: That sounds like a collector’s treasure. Let us know what happens!
LOVE SUNSPOTS: I sent a letter a while ago about the sale of some items, but I haven’t seen my request in Sunspots yet. – No name, Lewiston
REPLY: Remember that Sun Spots publishes information about items that you are looking for or about to give away. However, I do not accept requests for items for sale. You need to arrange this with our good people who deal with classified ads. It’s very inexpensive to run an ad and they make it very easy for you too.
When I receive a letter about an item for sale, I always give you the correct department to send it to immediately. To access classified ads, call the Sun Journal’s main telephone number at 784-5411.
Here is a little more about “The World According to Mrs. Sunspots”: As a rule, I only coordinate readers confidentially with others under very special circumstances (not through the column). So do not ask me to do this (as in “I have to address this other reader, but I don’t want to appear in the paper.”)
I am also unable to comply with requests for confidential answers to your questions. When you write to Sun Spots, expect your letters to get published. When I have to decide not to publish a letter because it is unsuitable for Sun Spots, I sometimes consult the editors of the Sun Journal before making a final decision. Thank you for your understanding.
This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: you need to write in the column and sign your name. We won’t use it if you ask us to. Please enter your phone number. Letters are not returned or answered by post, and phone calls are not accepted. Your letters will appear as fast as space allows. Direct them to Sun Spots, PO Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be sent by email to [email protected].
