Why Is Diet So Necessary for the Sport of Health?

In the last few years there has been a major shift towards performance nutrition in CrossFit.

CrossFit as a training method has long promoted a balanced diet. It’s part of the L1 curriculum, and a lot of emphasis has been placed on low-processed whole foods as drivers of chronic disease reversal.

CrossFit, the sport, took a slightly different approach. While food quality is still important, there is a new focus on food quantities at both the calorie and macronutrient levels. Macro tracking is the new approach to nutrition for athletes, and unsurprisingly, the community has followed closely. Most athletes have someone to help them with their nutritional strategy every day and during competition. There are numerous performance nutrition companies (including my own) offering advice to athletes and recreational CrossFitters on the best diet for their specific goals.
