These oils have a number of properties and benefits. Each ingredient is highly effective and can provide instant results independently or as a mixture. Some examples – tea tree oil is a natural disinfectant with strong antiseptic properties, lavender oil with its soothing scent helps calm the nerves and promotes sleep, eucalyptus is used as a disinfectant especially for throat and chest coughs.
Essential oils can be applied to the skin either by inhalation or topically. A patch test is important to make sure there are no side effects. In addition, they must also have a base or carrier oil. The most common are coconut and jojoba vegetable oils. Infants / pregnant women should avoid strong flavors.
Indian brands make many of their own essential oils as certain plants are grown well here. However, the commercialization of the same results in many variations being sold in the market. The highest quality standard is EOBBD (Essential Oil Botanically and Biochemically Defined). Always make sure to verify the authenticity of the oil that you are buying or using.
And most importantly, don’t overuse essential oils as these oils can end up doing more harm than good. Although most oils are harmless, some can cause a reaction if consumed in excess.
