DENVER, January 3, 2022 / PRNewswire / – Parents of young children have a new free resource they can turn to if they are wondering what to have for dinner. Bright by Text and Cooking Matters today announced a new partnership to bring trusted nutrition education, low-cost recipes, and child nutrition tips to parents across the country.

This new offering is designed for parents with children pre-born up to the age of 8 and offers families simple, affordable and healthy recipes for the whole family, nutritional education and family nutrition strategies. To log in, parents and caregivers can send COOK to 274 448 and receive text messages in English or Spanish.

“We know text messaging works: 95% of Bright by Text subscribers say our messages make them more confident caregivers,” said Jean McSpadden, President and CEO of Bright by Text. “With healthy eating a goal for many families, we’re excited to be working with Cooking Matters to get their hands on more parents with food and grocery resources right away. These text messages will tell families the age-old ‘what’s for dinner?’ Dilemma and helping them build confidence to provide their families with healthy, simple meals that they will enjoy. “

According to a national survey by APCO Insight, families view cost as the main obstacle to eating healthy. In addition, low-income families who regularly plan meals, write shopping lists, and budget for groceries are more likely to create healthy meals from scratch than those who do not. With 1 in 5 children in America classified as obese and 1 in 6 at risk of starvation, these messages can help families save time, money, and feed their families to lead healthier lives.

“We know parents and carers are looking for quick, easy, and affordable food ideas and tips for feeding their families,” said Jessica Caouette, Registered Nutritionist and Senior Content Manager at Share Our Strength, the organization behind the Cooking Matters campaign. “Partnering with Bright By Text will help us reach more families with timely and relevant tips, ideas and recipes that are delivered the way parents want them.”
