Dezeen campaign: Airbnb has partnered with Japanese retailer Muji to develop an affordable kit of essential household items for the hosts of the vacation rental platform that will provide essential amenities for guests during their stay.
Muji’s Airbnb Host Essentials consists of 23 items designed by the retailer, with each $ 400 kit accommodating up to two guests staying at an Airbnb.

Presented in Muji’s distinctive minimalist, neutral style with an all white and neutral wood palette, the kit contains items that travelers found essential in a recent survey conducted by DKC Analytics.
It offers Airbnb hosts a simple yet extensive set of amenities for their guests that compliments a variety of homes and decors in each location.
According to the survey, 43 percent of respondents believed that small details and accessories that a guest could use in their own home could differentiate a regular Airbnb host from an extraordinary one. This includes toothbrush holders and clothes hangers, both of which are included in the kit.

The Host Essentials kit aims to provide a wide range of such useful items for those living in temporary accommodation.
Kitchen utensils such as porcelain placemats, glass mugs and serving dishes are also included in the set, as are toiletries such as soothing waffle towels, soap dispensers and a streamlined dustpan and brush.
To make guests feel at home during their stay, the kit also includes some Muji favorites. Recycled paper notebooks and colored gel pens can be used to create a scrapbook, while the brand’s aroma diffuser with essential oils creates a welcoming atmosphere.
