AHealthcare providers large and small are preparing for the transition from virtual to personal care, and a startup is carefully hedging its bets. In order to achieve its goal of opening 1,500 clinics by 2025, the primary care provider Carbon Health has taken over the digital diabetes clinic Steady Health, marking the company’s first foray into the virtual care of chronic diseases.
Carbon also hired Nita Sommers, a former healthcare partner at Khosla Ventures and president of the elderly care company Honor, as chief growth officer. Sommers was previously a board member and advisor to the virtual diabetes provider Omada Health. In May, Carbon hired Myoung Cha, the former head of strategic initiatives for Apple’s health division, as the new chief strategy officer and president of home-based care reported from Insider.
